Baby Shower

My Baby Shower on Saturday, Feb.19 was such a success!! I am so grateful to all my friends who made it an unforgettable event for me! Most of it was a complete surprise to me. I invited 12 women, 2 were not able to come because they got sick but unbelievably -  they still sent us their gifts!

My dear friends all brought food - some appetizers, some desserts and beverages. One special girl Laura was "in charge" of the decorations - they turned out gorgeous and made my house very festive and pretty and of course set the mood! We played games, chatted, ate this delicious food, took pictures , laughed and had a terrific time together! It was a truly great day for me - I was touched and amazed and very-very grateful for everything!

Update...

Nicht viel pasiert in meinem Leben zur Zeit. Ich lese viel, treffe mich mit Freunden, gehe zur Ausstellungen, höre mir gute Musik an. Ich muss mich so oft wie möglich entspannen, weil ich die letzten Tage sehr-sehr müde bin. Mein Bauch wächst und wächst und ich hoffe, dass es ein gutes Zeichen ist, dass es meinem Baby gut geht :o) Dafür bete ich...
Am nächsten Samstag findet mein Baby Shower statt. Ich freue mich schon drauf. Die Geschenke fangen schon an , von Amazon per Post anzukommen. Am Samstag werden sie dann aufgemacht!

Ich wünschte ich könnte besser schlafen...Wegen meinen Rückenschmerzen und einem riesigen Bacuh geht das nämlich nicht mehr. "Nur" noch 4 Wochen! Dann muss mein Schatz aber raus :o), was natürlich trotzdem keine ruhigen erholsamen Nächte verspricht :o) zumindest aber wird man hoffentlich auf dem Bauch wieder schlafen können ohne den Bauch im Weg zu haben und von Rückenschmerzen geplagt zu sein  :o) Mein Mann schont mich, wie er kann, er massiert meinen Rücken, kuschelt mit mir,  macht die Hausarbeit und ist sehr aufmerksam. Dieses schöne Gefühl von Geborgenheit geniesse ich sehr...

Ich vermisse aber meinen Vater und meine ganze Familie in München.. Zum Glück kommt mein Papa am 16 März zu uns (um uns mit dem Kleinen zu helfen) und bleibt für fast 4 Wochen! Darauf freue ich mich jetzt schon sehr!!

Appoinments, appointments...

Well, today was the day to make an aquaintance with a prospective doctor of the baby. I was (untypically for me :o) ) on time, entered the pediatrician's office, was greeted very nicely by a doctor's assistant and asked to wait. While waiting I was praying that I like the new doctor and that he actually would take my children (that is the first time ever I used the term "children" and not just "child" - that is still strange to me but also exciting!). A couple of minutes later the doctor entered the room and I ...instantly liked him! We talked a little, he made a couple of jokes (which instantly won me over!) and told me how things with pediatricians work in the US (comparatively to Germany) . That was actually one of his first jokes, when he said, "well, comparatively to Germany you're...on your own :o)))No-no, just kidding..." That of course immediately broke the ice.
Well, anyway, the good news is - it worked out! It looks like Dr. Stein will be my baby's doctor. After leaving the doctor's office (which is on N. Main Street, sharing the parking lot with the Bank of America and right around the corner from our house!!), I went to check out a new second hand kids' clothes store. Boy, was I pleased!! Most of the things (bassinets, swings, blankets, clothes, toys, books, etc) look like new but cost a third of a retail price!! Now is it nice or what?? I ended up purchasing a couple of things and am very happy. The delivery date is approaching, can you tell :o))?

My friend is here!

My friend from Moscow is finally here! I couldn't wait to see her and wow, it finally happened! We are having a great time together - laughing, chatting, cooking, shopping, watching movies together. Such a blast!  I haven't had such a good time in a while- I only hope it will last! It's a little inconvenient not to have a car right now when my friend is here and it's so bitter cold outside that a walk outside is out of question but since it can't be helped, I am gonna try to find something fun to do at home and have fun anyway. We'll see :o)

Next week when my friend leaves I will have an appointment with a possibly my baby's new doctor. It is so hard to find a good pediatrician in West Hartford! Even once one has found a good new doctor  it's even harder to switch over because the most doctors in West Hartford would not take other doctors' patients! It's a vicious circle and I am pretty desperate! I really hope it'll work out with this doctor - please keep your fingers crossed for us! :o) I'll keep you posted :o))

Snow

Today is a good day. It's snowing! Most people would probably disagree but I like it. Especially since we get to stay home together. It's been snowing since yesterday and by now we got about 20 inches or so. It took my husband 2 hours to clean our driveway, so he could get out to work for a brief but important meeting.  Veronika and I are at home. She is playing with her new American Girl doll (Lanie),teaching her how to skate and I am sitting with my MacBook typing these words and feeling at peace and happy.

 I started reading a book called "The art of Happiness" by Dalai Lama and I lke it a lot. I hope to learn something from it. We'll see.  What also makes me happy is shopping for my baby. It's due in two months but I am already very excited and can't wait. There are many things that he is going to need (such as a bassinet, a car seat, a changing table and such) and I am busy choosing them for him. Oh, and I am going to have a Baby Shower! My friends are throwing one for me! So nice of them! It will probably take place on Feb. 19 , so I have to set up a Baby Registry until then. I think it's gonna be fun! I'll keep you posted.

I am back

It's been a while since my last posting. Many things happened - I went to Munich for two weeks, my parents-in-law came for X-mas, we celebrated New Year and so on. Unfortunately and quite untypically for me- I did not enjoy any of those things this time. It could be because I am pregnant and constantly tired but for some reason I am also constantly disappointed...and that makes me sad..
Oh well- I hope things will get better as the time goes and I won't feel that depressed and unmotivated any more. 
My husband's car broke down, so he takes mine to get to work, which makes me ..grounded. I am stuck at home and it's too cold outside to walk to Starbucks or somewhere else. So I am home, working, being sad and lonely.
I know that's a sad posting but tha's how I feel today...
